Mix Bus Compressor - Stereo all VCA compressor modelled on the SSL console buss compressor
The Morbin Audio Mix Bus Compressor is a stereo VCA compressor based on the legendary SSL SL4000 in built console compressor. The design has stayed true to the original with the addition of a few extra features.
The first of which is an internal sidechain filter to filter out low frequencies in the detection circuit. This allows for added control over the compression especially when you have a bass heavy source. In a mix buss situation this can allow for the punch of a kick to really come through in the mix a little more and stop the track from pumping as much. As well as this there are the ‘T1’ and ‘T2’ settings which tilt the Eq in the detection circuit.,‘T1’ being slightly lighter and ‘T2’ being a heavy setting. This mode accentuates the high frequencies along with high passing in the internal sidechain giving a different flavour of compression.
Another feature of this compressor is the Mono/Stereo sidechain selector. This gives two different sidechain modes, one that uses the mono sum of the two signals and one that uses each side separately. Effectively in stereo mode this allows for more of a true stereo compression style, whilst mono gives you that extra level of creativity.
The unit also features a ‘broadcast safe’ true bypass in case of power fail and can be used as a single mono compressor by only using on side of inputs/outputs. Each unit is hand wired and calibrated to order, which means there may be a lead-time from purchase.
